MOF Engineering

Once optimal materials are identified, the next big question is how to engineer them for a final application. Successful shaping of MOFs, in particular, is probably the biggest hurdle to transfer them to industry. In a critical milestone, we have developed advances in MOF synthesis to prepare monolithic materials. This resulted in the design of the first conformed materials that go beyond the U.S. Department of Energy targets for methane uptake (J. Mat. Chem. A 2015; Nature Materials 2018).
